After a weeklong stay in Melaka it was time for me to head to my next destination, which was the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia and is located in the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The best time to visit this city is between the months of December to February and May to August. The best part about this popular city is that it is completely multi cultured. As you walk along side the road you will see beautiful sky scrapers on one side and shopping malls on the other. The city also has one of the best and happening night life of Asia. It is considered to be an enclave within the state of Selamgor. Apart from its night life the city is also quite famous for its street food which is basically a mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian Cuisine. Apart from this the Thai and the Arabian food is what makes it more special. The use of spices and ingredients that are used is completely mind blowing. One thing that I realise while staying in Kuala Lumpur was that the city is completely different in terms of night life and shopping. By 10:00 pm the night life of this city transitions into action and that is how it remains till wee hours of the morning.

If you are a a shopaholic make sure to visit malls like Pavilion and Suria Klcc. The local people here are quite helpful if you ask for any kind of help. However, it being a 24/7 city do not expect a lot of cleanliness and serenity here. You can also visit Genting Highland which is a hill resort at a height of more than 5000 feet. All places within the city are well connected by buses and trains. However, if you want to explore the city till its roots make sure to travel by Bus. The best places to stay in Kuala Lumpur are at Bukit Bintang, which is located at the city centre. You can check into hotels like Mandarin Oriental and Grand Hyatt.

Based on my previous experience I chose to book my bus tickets through  redbus.my, which was completely hassle free. Since most people do not travel from Melaka to Kuala Lumpur there was only one Operator plying on this route. The duration of the journey is about 2 hours if you plan to travel during the non peak hours. Since the distance between Melaka and Kuala Lumpur is quite less there are no luxury coach operators on this route. Trans Nasional was the only executive coach operator with ticket prices starting upwards of MYR13. The first bus with Trans Nasional leaves at 11:35 am followed by the next one at 5:45 pm and the last one leaves at 11:45 pm. Since I choose to travel mostly during the nights I booked my tickets on the 11:45 pm Bus and found my journey quite comfortable at this time.

Equipped with a tea factory, a teashop and an exclusive visitor center, this place somehow manages to make you feel relaxed and calm. The staff here is more than happy to narrate the history of this estate. There is also an on-site souvenir store for you to take some memoirs back to friends and family.

Aquaria KLCC
Home to over one hundred and fifty species of marine life, its star attractions embody chilling tiger sharks, fatal ocean snakes, blue rays, bright coral fish, seahorses and much more!   Located on the concourse level of the Kuala Lumpur convention center it is one of the biggest aquariums in the entire world. It is home to over 150 different species.  The Aquarium is so well stocked that it will take you days to explore it entirely. After spending about 3 to 4 hours here, you will have seen more than 5000 different species of fresh water and marine creatures, which include the giant groupers and gar fish. The place is known to take tourists through several different watery landscapes right from the flooded jungles of Malaysia to its highlands. You will also get to see a glimpse of the Amazon Basin, the Open Ocean and the Coral Reefs. The aquarium is spread out across different levels but the best part is the DNA touch pool where you can actually pick up and feel the texture of live coral and star fishes. The experience is just unforgettable.

Bogor

Imagine yourself on a picnic in such a fantastic garden amidst the calm and serene atmosphere. If you are a nature lover then this park is a must visit. This park is a perfect getaway if you are looking for some time alone with your family. Not only does this help to get away from the chaotic city life but it also relaxes and soothes your mind. The best part of the Hort Park is that you can walk through several other attractions which are at a stone throw distance. You can also join some of the guided tours here. The Park is famous for its year round festivals and lights its gardens colourfully at night.  Spread across 9 hectares of land the Park is included in the list of the world’s largest parks. It is located in the South Western part of Singapore and was open for the people in the year 2008.

Singapore has a good network of roads and is very well connected. This makes traveling completely hassle free and convenient. If you are looking forward to visit all of the above places then i recommend you to travel by bus as not only will it save you some money but also time. Check out redbus.sg for quick ticket booking and awesome discounts!!

The signature attractions of the Hort Park are the Hort Centre, Green House Retail and workshop, the Butterfly Gardens, the Theme Gardens, hands on house, Hort Lawn and Event Lawn.

Public Bus Nos. 61, 93, 97, 100 and 51 are the buses that go to Hort Park.

Chinese Garden

The moment you enter this magnificient garden, you will find huge lions made of stone guarding its gates. It is a Chinese tradition to protect imperial palaces with pride worthy animals. The Chinese believe that these animals have the mythical ability to protect. Spread across 14 hectares of land the garden feels like a part of China has been sliced and placed here in the western part of Singapore. The Garden comprises of a traditional tea house, a Pagoda and stone bridges. Famously designed by the architect Yuenchen Yu in the year 1975, the Garden follows the imperial architecture of the Chinese people from the North. Other remarkable features of the garden are Bonsai Garden. There are about 100 Bonsais that have been imported in this garden from China, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan. If you are looking forward to tagging your kids along on this adventure, make sure to them to the live turtle and tortoise museum.

Public Bus Nos. 229, 707, 33 are some of the buses that will take you to the Chinese Gardens.

Shopping at Little India is definitely not, your regular roadside shopping. You may feel that Little India in completely out of place in a city like Singapore where there are countless futuristic mega malls that feature costly designer brands in air-conditioned enclosures. However, this is not true. Little India is a complete different story altogether, one that will leave you with an unforgettable experience. If you are heading out on a holiday to Singapore and Malaysia, I recommend you to keep Little India last on your visit list as the place also serves as a major Bus Boarding and departure point for buses heading to and from Malaysia.

There are about 5 to 6 Operators plying on this route as per what was mentioned on the website called redbus.sg, from where I booked my Bus tickets. I did not wait for more than a minute since as soon as I was done with my shopping I could board my Bus. However, trust me my shopping experience at this place left me with much more cash on hand than what I had expected. There were several 24 hour shopping centres like Mustafa Centre, which is famous for selling products that are priced quite lower compared to the markets outside. The range of shopping products here is as diverse as the people communities. Clothes, fresh food, souvenirs and electronics are what you will find at dirt-cheap rates over here.

There were quite a few operators plying on the route between the two cities. Some of the most popular ones being Trans Royal Singapore, Starmart Express, Konsortium, Interline Express and Trans Nasional. I booked my bus tickets through Trans Nasional which had about 5 buses plying throughout the day starting from 10:00 am in the morning till 6:00 pm in the evening. I booked an afternoon bus and the journey took me about 9 hours – thanks to the notorious traffic of Singapore. The tickets cost me about SGD40 but there were tickets that went up as high as SGD60 and it depends on the class of Bus you book. Starmart was the only luxury Bus Operator lying on this route and had buses plying at 3 different times. The prices were a little on the higher side but the Operator clearly justified this with the modern amenities that it had to offer on its buses. Konsortium had only 1 bus plying throughout the entire day which was at 10:00 pm in the night. I would recommend you to book this bus on your visit as it takes only 6 hours to complete its journey, as the roads are free of any traffic during this time. The tickets prices are also quite reasonable at this time of the night.

Taiping is considered to be the second biggest town in Malaysia after Ipoh. The name has been derived from two Chinese characters and the place is quite famous as many deposits were found here. This is also considered to be one of the most tourist friendly destinations in Singapore.
